Biography

Like many musicians, Stephen Sikorski began studying music at a young age. However, classical piano was only the first in a long list of instruments that he has learned over almost 3 decades. While living in New Jersey, Stephen excelled in piano, jazz studies, classical saxophone, oboe, guitar, theory, songwriting, and composition. Often he could be found entertaining at posh country clubs, performing on stage in local musical theatre productions, talent shows, singing in a barbershop quartet, and conducting/composing for his high school's award winning marching unit and concert bands.

Jordan HallIn 1997 Stephen moved to Boston to attend the New England Conservatory for a Bachelor's degree in Classical Composition. He performed many times on stage of the famous Jordan Hall, and has also had the privilege of having several of his original works premiered there. In his second year Stephen began singing professionally as a tenor section leader/soloist in various churches. During both his Undergraduate and Graduate Studies at N.E.C., Stephen began focusing on electronic/computer music, sound synthesis, and recording/production techniques.

Centaur RecordsIn the last 6 years, Stephen has gained detailed knowledge of all types of published music working in the largest sheet music store in MA, Music Espresso. He began his own business recording, mixing, and producing all styles of music from solo classical & avant garde artists, chamber ensembles, jazz bands, large choruses, local singer-songwriters, to full rock bands. In 2006 Stephen's engineering of Hammerklavier-Conducted by Parallel Lives was released on Centaur Records.

Most recently Stephen has been teaching piano, voice, guitar, and theory/composition both privately and as a faculty member at music schools in the Greater Boston area. He is now playing keyboards, singing, and writing for the modern rock band Shadwell. Stephen is proud to have moved on from solo/choral work to be the Music Director and Organist of Christ Church Episcopal, Waltham.
